This is a work in progress, and since I could not figure out how to comment on this photo when I posted it I’ll do it now.
The photo was taken in September of 2008 in Hanalei Bay on Kauai, the subject is my youngest son Marcus and his first marlin catch. Marcus’ invitation to go fishing came from family friends, and Marcus seized the opportunity. I wasn’t on board, so I don’t know the whole story of the catch…
I do know Marcus landed (with coaching) this magnificent fish, and it belonged to the boat, and was sold at docking to a local restaurant, who served it to diners that night. Hunt and gather! Had I known, I would have reserved a table!
The best thing about the photo is the composition and the feeling of pride I get when I look at it. Great trip, great kid, great fish, great photo.
Indeed, one great photo…takes my breath away. What a day that must have been for Marcus (and you).
